    Day 14: Class 12 & 13 

    Hey Hotties, 

    Its been a couple days since my last blog post!  Day 12 & 13 went haywire!  This challenge has been going well until Thursday (Day 12) happened.  I got in my car 20 minutes before class started to come to the studio and heard a very loud thud as I drove down my street. I got out of the car and this happened: 

    WAHHHH - Major flat tire.  Let's go on to say, I grew up on a farm.  I know how to change a tire BUT my cars spare is in the worst place ever.  Its really hard to get to and is not an easy task.  Its a job for the hubby and even he hates it when I get a flat.  It was the 6:45pm class (my last chance to practice for the day) so I was unable to practice on Day 12.  I was so upset about it!  

    Day 13, Friday came and I was ready to take the 4:30pm class.  Allison called and said she was really sick (she sounded horrible) and there wasn't any other teacher around to help her out.  At Riverflow we are a little family so of course I was happy to help.  I ended up teaching the 4:30pm class and couldn't take it.  Oh well.  

    Today is Saturday, Day 14.  I've got some classes to make up!!  So, I took and taught the 8am class (which ended up being my class 12) and took the 10:30am class right after (my class 13).  I am determined to get caught up and the only way to do it is to take 4 classes and 2 days.  I am halfway there!  Let me tell you, back-to-back classes is HARD!  In the first class, I felt great and was so happy to be back at my practice but by the floor series on my second class I was getting SO tired.  I made it through all 3 hours and only took the second set of Trikonasana off so I was really proud of myself.  I am halfway through my make-up classes.  Tomorrow I will be doing the same thing (YIKES) but will have 15 classes in 15 days by noon tomorrow.  WOW!  What an awesome challenge! 

    Even though I missed 2 days of classes, I did not miss my smoothies!  I have been loading up on Chocolate Almond Butter Shakeology and Frozen Pineapple Spinach!  Check back tomorrow to make sure I am still alive!  Haha!

    Day 2: Bright Green Smoothie 

    Hey Hotties! 

    Today was Day 2 of my 30 day hot yoga challenge!  It felt great to wake up this morning and be able to take a hot yoga class. I normally do not get to practice on Mondays because I teach the evening class and am busy during the noon class.  Because of the holiday, I was able to practice at noon and teach at 6:45pm - what a treat!  I felt great and loved class (as always)!  My hamstrings were a little tight from Sundays class but hoping that problem will be kicked by tomorrow night! 

    I am thankful for the noon class today because from here on out, in order for me to do this challenge I HAVE to take the 6:45am class on Monday.  Yikes! I'm not the best morning person but I will be for the remaining 4 (yes that's right) 4 Mondays in January! 

    My green smoothie this morning was BRIGHT green.  If you came to the last Green Goddess Spa you know that I am obsessed with the color of my smoothies :)  Not only was it bright green but it was tasty too!  Click here for the recipe.

    Hot Yoga and a Healthy New Year 

    It's December 26th... the day after Christmas.  I love the holidays but what a whirlwind the past few days have been. If your holidays were anything like mine, they were filled with good friends, crazy family, and lots of Christmas cookies!  I maintained a healthy smoothie for breakfast but what happened in the afternoons - well, let's just say it was not very green goddess like of me!! 

    Let's talk crazy families.  My side of the family is straight from Italy.  My grandparents on my mothers side are "fresh off the boat" so to say. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away many years ago. For my 80 year old grandfather - his only wish for the holidays is that my whole family is ALL together.  This includes my mom and her two sisters as well as many cousins and second cousins.  It makes for a full couple of days of overindulgence in foods I do not normally eat.  If I do not eat all their homemade goodies, they think there is something wrong with me (they all think I am weird to begin with!).  So to make myself feel better about eating a pound of cookies I say, "it will make my aunt happy if she sees me eating her cookies."  What a crazy concept. 

    My husbands family = 100% irish.  What does that mean?  As soon as you walk in the door they ask, "honey, what would you like to drink?".  An hour or so goes by of wine glasses filled to the brim and then enters dishes of potatoes and pasta to help absorb the Christmas cheer that is now in your belly.  

    It's great to see our families and I love spending time with everyone but 3 or 4 days of parties, dinners, and leftovers has left me feeling not so great.  Its not just about calories to me, its also about the energy level and mental clarity I get from eating a healthy diet.  

    Enter hot yoga to save my day! Ever since I started this practice I have wanted to do a 30 day challenge. I always come up with some sort of excuse as to why I can't.  Excuses no more, I am here to tell all of you that Jan. 1st at 6pm starts Day 1 of my 30 Day Hot Yoga and Green Smoothie challenge!  I need accountability and this blog is going to be just that!  I will post my recipes everyday of what's in my green smoothie.  Follow along with me if you dare!!
